It's from the set of the infamous Pyscho movie. So I decided to go to town and in an hour, I had this awesome image staring at me. I love the ambient light, but I also love images that SHOW a story, not TELL it.

Creepy.

Love to know what you think,
DonovanDonovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1161541221169659392006-10-22T11:17:00.000-07:002006-10-22T11:35:35.816-07:00New Snowboard & BindingsSo I went up with Geoff and Rory up in Salt Lake today to buy my new snowboard and gear for this upcoming season.

Geoff and I looked around for a while and I finally found a Burton Twin that caught my eye. After traveling to a few stores we eventually bought it over at Decade for $240, then went over to Utah Snow and Ski where we found a board I liked better for half the price. It was a K2 Fuse board from the previous season (. I liked the look of it better, and for half the money why not be happy.

Went back to Decade, and wanted to return the Burton Twin. The owner said it was on clearance and I couldn't return the board. He told me that it's on the receipt. I searched the receipt and nothing about sale or clearance items was there. I got my money back.

I felt bad about stiffing him a sale, so I bought some Burton Custom bindings (see pic below) for $140 so I didn't completely rip him off. After that, Geoff and I met up with his wife Lindsay to get some Italian food at a place near them. It was actually really good Salmon, and the must have thrown alot of extra love into those roast vegetables. Yum.

Here's the setup (pics below) so far, I've just gotta get some outerwear.

Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1160087357004214382006-10-05T15:21:00.000-07:002006-10-10T20:37:00.093-07:00Malaga, SpainI've finalized dates, flights and a car rental. Not only did it give me a larger than life perspective of what is possible, it also helped me to know what really matters in life. I think I matured more in 3 months than I have in the last 5 years.

Here are some of the brief points that I felt my time in New York City made me realize about myself and the world.

1. People are primary. People are the most important commodity that we have in the world. The way to succeed in life, is to have people like you for you. Connecting with people and using them for mutual benefit is essential, especially in business.

2. It's not them, it's you. Usually, I've found when people aren't my friends or people aren't gelling with me (women), that it's not them: It's me. Responsibility for your life is in your hands, not someone elses. Look at yourself, and retrospect. Are you the type of person you would be friends/in a relationship with? Hmmm....

3. Money is easy. Money is easy to collect, you just need to know how, and drive yourself to your goals through passion. If you aren't doing something that's passionate to you, you WILL fail. Find something that's passionate to you, then you will find something that's of value to others.

4. Goals complete life. Everything in this life is goal orientated. From gym, wealth, relationships, and spirituality. If you don't have goals, you will fail, or simply put, you won't fail, because you didn't have anything to accomplish. Change that. So many people don't know what they want from there college career. What do they want to do?

5. Places are what you know about them. I learnt by traveling around New York City and visiting landmarks, is that the landmarks were USELESS and BORING unless I knew what happened there. By simply researching and understanding what happened, or what a certain place was used for, provided me with an enormous respect and awe of what I was now experiencing. It creates a different atomosphere and a more fulfilling time.

6. Passion is attractive. I've noticed as I've accepted my passions, my preferences and my perspectives in life, and not conforming to what society tell me is cool or fun, I've been far more attractive to people, and far more attracted to myself as a person. I've realized I've got a tremedous amount to offer my future partner (wife), friends, and people that are in my life. Such examples are: travel, art, what I will accept and will not accept in relationships, books, etc.

7. Family and friends are most important. Family and friends are the most important things in life. Period. Without relationships, I am incomplete.

8. Never accepting negativity. Negativity in people and society is counterproductive and is repulsive towards people who are positive. (Which I hope I am)

9. Travel matures you. Besides being FUN, travel is what expands your mind and your attitude. It's the spice of life, and must be done.

10. Understanding before prejudice. I've made a few gay friends in New York, and I definetly judged them before I knew who they were. I don't accept what they do, but I do love them for who they are. There are a million other prejudices that I have, that I'm trying to abolish. (Some I like to keep for amusement)

11. Quality far better than quantity. This is something my friend Stephen Shelley told me: It's better to have 1 x $80 dress shirt, than 4 x $20 dress shirts. They last longer, look better, and show that you have more respect for this temple that is our bodies. Everything in life, is better with quality not quantity. It's better to have one quality girlfriend than 10 quantity hookups. It's more fulfilling to have one great trip to Spain than 6 ok trips to Las Vegas. It's better to have 5 great friends instead of 20 so-so untrustworthy friends. You get the point, and it makes life better.

** This list will change, and is not complete **

Overall, I think positivity and lifestyle rules. Having a lifestyle that you find fulfilling and living it. If you don't have it yet, take action now.Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1157678578155722082006-09-07T18:22:00.000-07:002006-09-07T18:23:44.376-07:00How Handsome I AmWell, it's confirmed, I look like Brad Pitt. They didn't do it well. GSD&M from Austin, Texas really did number with this concept. They created a place where young teens could discuss fashion, upload videos, etc. Teenagers look at this site, and if they aren't from Alabama, they skip it and curse Walmart from trying to trick them.

*Cough* *Yawn*

I've seen this before, it's called Myspace, and it's much better.

It's trying desperately hard to be cool, when it isn't. GSD&M must have a hip team of 40+ year-old white collared men, who aren't in touch with their children's lives designing this.

Put this one down to terrible research, bad ideas, and an advertising firm that's right on the money.Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1151012899554978702006-06-22T14:38:00.000-07:002006-06-22T14:48:19.566-07:00Kevin Spacey...What is the deal with the casting director of Superman Returns?

They must not have seen Kevin Spacey, with the exact same character in Austin Powers.

Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1150904249018764742006-06-21T08:06:00.000-07:002006-06-21T08:37:37.386-07:00Pet Peeve 1: Women's SunglassesI dislike those huge sunglasses that women wear out. At first it was like an exciting Christmas present, that is until the allure wears right off when it breaks after using it for a day.

That metaphor is right on with the new sunglasses look for women. You see, the girl seems hot, until after, when she takes her glasses off and you see that her eyes are further apart than a goldfishes. Even more distrubing is the gross skin that some women seem to have, with the shock value tripling after removing their glasses, because you've been sent into a false sense of attraction.

No more Jackie O glasses, except on really hot women. We got out of the office building, and I felt a slight breeze over my ear, as if a bird flew nearby. Then suddenly a huge eruption of sound caused my head to turn to the left and I saw on the payment a freshly broken bottle of Dasani that made its journey from the top of the skyscraper. After I realized what it was, I turned my head up to the roof and another one landed a few feet from us. We ran out of the way under the scaffolding next to our building. A New Yorker came out of the club next door, and turned his head up towards the sky and yelled out some obscenities at something or someone he thought was causing havoc. Great times in New York!! =)Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25485147.post-1148798822244348122006-05-27T23:36:00.000-07:002006-05-28T00:09:50.763-07:00Wrecking Havoc Up At Stuart FallsA group of us went up on a 4 mile hike to Stuart Falls today. It was way fun, it was especially beautiful this time of year.

After missing the park at which our car was at, we approached some fellow longboarding buddies and got a ride back up to Bridal Veil Falls Park.

We averted a few near misses after she cut me off around a tight bend, thanks to my maneuvering and jumping skills. It was inevitable however, I got ahead of her going at incredible speeds. I swerved left into the park going down a steep slope. I looked back, she was nowhere in sight.

I decided to curve my board into the grass and wait for her. I jumped off the board. My legs were running so fast, I must have gotten up to about 30 mph or so. I started to feel my body weight shifting to the front of my body away from my legs, as if a ship about to sink with to a flooded hull.

I then went down. Three crazy somersaults with everyone in the park looking on. After I regain my composure I sprout up to my legs, with my hands high in victory pose and shout "Now that's what I'm talking about!"

Amy comes around the corner... 2 minutes later...

Don't get me started on what happened Thursday night while longboarding with some new found friends. They have recently been growing fast and obtaining alot of high quality clients. They are currently been working on a few large projects such as a massive Delaware real estate development campaign, Trump websites, and a few big name Wall Street fund companies.

A brief description of the position from the CEO Gunny Scarfo:

1. Learn the REAL ins and outs of managing accounts at an interactive agency. Not photocopying.

2. You WILL walk into meetings by my side with all of our clients -- including regular meetings at one of the New York's top industry-specific ad agencies, the top ranked hedge fund on Wall Street, the city's most experimental musicians, and a couple of New York's more prestigious real estate developers. You WILL meet these people and see how things work in their boardrooms and, possibly, out with them socially. By the end of the summer, they will know you, which will open doors for your future.

3. You WILL be able to put some crazy stuff on your resume by the end of the summer -- the projects we're working on, as you've heard a little about, are going to make waves. You'll actually be a live part of them.

Seems like a great PAID offer. I purchased the vehicle to provide a reliable way to install security systems for the summer. Little did I know, the transmission failed shortly after the acquistion. I took it to a transmission repair shop, called Action Transmission based in Provo. Great guys, they did their best.

After leaving in a convoy, my friends in another car, we reached St George. The car was getting great gas mileage, which was a pleasant surprise. Although I stopped in the carpark outside of Target. I settled "Lemon" on a slight downward slope. After eating and readying ourselves for hopefully the last leg of the journey, I punched it into reverse.

The reverse didn't work. The engine hissed, like a little Vespa scooter with less guts, in neutral. That was the first time the transmission let me know it was defintely going to hell without remorse.

Let's read another buyers review of the Mazda 626 1995 LX:

"I purchased a 1995 Mazda 626 a few years ago and it gave me nothing but trouble. The transmission was replaced 3 times before 25,000 miles, all three times it would lose drive until the engine hit about 3,000-3,500 rpm's then it would kick in and spin..."
Sound's so familiar....

Anyways, after some work pushing it out of the 5 degree downward slope, we finally get back on the freeway. We started heading to Las Vegas nervous as a 16-year-old on his first date.

Eventually we made it through Vegas, headed past Baker, and then the fated road...

I called Alan who were by now, out of sight.

"Pull over at the next exit," I requested.

"What's the matter?" Alan queried.

"My car is freaking me out now!"

"Ok, we're pulling off on Zzyzx Road..." Alan said.

"What?!"

"Z Z Y Z X Road"

"What the hell is that?!"

"It's the name of the road."

"No kidding... huh. Ok."

About 5 minutes later I crept on to the ZZYZX Road exit, pulling along side the 92 Saturn.

"My car is the biggest piece of crap - EVER!"

"Let's just keep plowing and see how far it makes."

"Cool..."

We made it to San Diego at 3 a.m. (Yes, this was when Fenton was in town at the Hyatt), after not being able to contact Fenton, we left for Oceanside. The traffic on I-5 was gridlocked, with Lemon barely moving along. I was nervous about the five lanes, that could trap me in the middle lane, if the transmission died. Lemon almost broke down on an off-ramp after taking the wrong direction to head to Rancho Bernardo (we're I was to live). The off-ramp I got off on Del Mar Heights road which might have been the steepest road in San Diego. Not good for a failing transmission.

I turned around headed back down the I-5 getting off at Jacob Dekema Fwy, then exiting on Sorrento Valley Road which turned into Mira Mesa Blvd.... All with the far sighted goal to make it to Rancho Bernardo, which I thought was "somewhere near Mira Mesa."

After evading a meltdown on the busiest freeway in the United States (eg. The 5), I travelled along Mira Mesa Blvd during out of school rush. I went under the I-15, and thought to myself, I know the I-15 goes to Ranch Bernardo... A guy cut me off, so I couldn't get on the on-ramp, then I was forced along the road about 1/4 of a mile to Scripps Ranch Blvd.

Lemon was fully struggling now, and barely had power to even go up a 5 degree incline. It went around the corner (Scripps Ranch Blvd) and died next to a corner strip mall.

I know what you're thinking and YES. The same suburb that the Top Gun Naval base is at.

The off-ramp, till break down, a TRUE miracle...Donovanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11134423893482329265noreply@blogger.com1
